Types of thermocouple
There are many types of thermocouples, each with its own characteristics and applications. The most common types are:
- Type K: This is the most commonly used thermocouple and is suitable for use in most applications. It is made of nickel-chromium and nickel-aluminum alloys and can measure temperatures from -200°C to 1,200°C.
- Type J: This thermocouple is made of iron and constantan and is suitable for use in low-temperature applications. It can measure temperatures from -210°C to 760°C.
- Type T: This thermocouple is made of copper and constantan and is suitable for use in low-temperature applications. It can measure temperatures from -270°C to 370°C.
- Type E: This thermocouple is made of chromel and constantan and is suitable for use in high-temperature applications. It can measure temperatures from -270°C to 1,000°C.
- Type N: This thermocouple is made of nickel-chromium-silicon and nickel-silicon and is suitable for use in high-temperature applications. It can measure temperatures from -270°C to 1,300°C.
